Información

Hi,

I'm a member of AEGEE-Bilbao, a non-profit association for the European youth.

Next Thursday afternoon, 17th of November, we'll celebrate the European Day of Languages (EDL). But what exactly is the European Day of Languages? The Council of Europe established it in 2001, in order to make people aware of the importance of learning new languages and to promote the cultural and linguistic diversity of Europe. The message we want to convey to young people is that language skills are not only important for professional or career aspects, but also to achieve a better cooperation and strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between different countries.

There is a limited number of places, which are assigned in a first come, first served basis. In order to know exactly how many people will come, we'd really appreciate it if you filled in the following google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfR_Wrc50rTNctuMcoRaZnwGO5KSeoKB-UP7xfL6Cb3X2IRhw/viewform?c 0&w 1

The programme will be the following:

16.00-16.15: Introductory presentation

16.00-17.15: Presentation about Romani language and gypsy culture. Speaker: Oscar Bizarraga. The speaker will talk in Spanish, but the Powerpoint presentation will be in English.

17.15-18.15: Presentation about Tosta project (a cultural project about minority languages in the Atlantic Coast). Speakers: Asier Basurto and Iker Martinez de Lagos. The speakers will talk in Basque, but the Powerpoint presentation will be in English.

18.15-18.30: Break. Drinks will be available.

18.30-19.30: Language diversity workshop with games (language quiz, game about idioms, guess the language, names of celebrities, tongue twisters in foreign languages, Taboo, etc.)

19.30-20.30: Language tandem with international students. Learn and practise different languages with native speakers, make new friends and learn about other cultures in a relaxed informal atmosphere.

Again, if you're planning to come, please FILL IN THIS FORM: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfR_Wrc50rTNctuMcoRaZnwGO5KSeoKB-UP7xfL6Cb3X2IRhw/viewform?c 0&w 1
